A Television Special About Alcoholism Symptoms Results In Discouraging Thoughts About A Woman's Hazardous And Excessive Drinking

Sharon had been involved in abusive drinking behavior since her freshman year in college. Now, nine years later, she drank more than ever. One Friday evening when she wasn't feeling all that well, Sharon decided to stay home, unwind, and watch TV. While trying to find a program to watch that would capture her attention, she instantaneously got interested in a special program about teenage and young adult drinking problems.

The commenter talked about the difference between alcoholism and alcohol abuse and then got into the subject of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholic behavior. When the spokesperson discussed an individual's symptoms of withdrawal and some of the more common alcoholism symptoms and signs that alcohol addicted people reveal, Sharon got quite troubled because it almost seemed as if the spokesperson was talking directly to her.

After watching the television program, Sharon promised herself that she would call her physician the next business day and make an appointment to discuss her abusive and excessive drinking.

When the next business day arrived, true to her word, Sharon called her doctor and scheduled an appointment. In the meantime, she went online and did a search for alcoholism symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following symptoms or signs: making excuses to drink at virtually every opportunity, sleep problems, serious relationship and work-related problems, sneaking extra drinks before social events, and increasing irritability.

Simply stated, since Sharon manifested all of these signs she went further in her Internet search and found a number of websites and blogs that articulated various alcohol addiction warning signs and symptoms. One of the signs that really took hold of her attention was the following: "Do you typically drink after telling yourself that you won't?"

Another alcoholism sign that captured her curiosity was the following: "Have relatives irritated by objecting to your abusive and excessive drinking?" A third alcohol dependency warning sign was the following: "Do you want a drink when you first get up in the morning?"

The final alcoholic warning symptom that made her feel somewhat uneasy about her irresponsible drinking was the following: "Has your ambition shrunk since you started drinking more frequently?" When Sharon read this sign she plainly realized that drinking had become a severe difficulty in her life because of her lack of energy and also because she stopped pursuing her goals and her dreams.

After reflecting on all of these injurious alcoholism signs and symptoms, Sharon at first felt down in the dumps. Then something exhilarating came about. She reflected on the fact knew that she was going to see her doctor about her irresponsible drinking and she also reflected on the fact that that she would talk about her alcoholism warning signs and symptoms.

If truth be told, for the first time in quite a few months, Sharon sincerely felt a sense of optimism because she was facing her irresponsible drinking and was finally ready to make the required changes so that she could reclaim the life that was drifting away.
