A Married Couple Worries About Their Abusive And Hazardous Drinking And Asks Themselves If They Exhibit Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Lenny and Angie have been married for three years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have a family and so they consciously created a super active social life.

The main issue, however, is that almost everything they do for excitement includes drinking. For instance, all of the family get-togethers, parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, and sporting events they spend time at somehow involve drinking.

If they were responsible drinkers this wouldn't be such a big issue. Since they drink quite irresponsibly, nonetheless, they are starting to notice some unmistakable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For instance, just five days ago Lenny was placed under arrest for his first DUI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. In addition, Lenny's last two performance assessments at work have been less than creditable and he has begun to forget what he does or says the times that he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to agonize over his drinking behavior.

In a similar way, Angie has been feeling disheartened about life and to cope with these feelings, she has been drinking more than any time in the past year. Not only this, but Angie has been experiencing more than a few headaches and having severe hangovers after drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling appreciably less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least two days per week, and she has been getting some occasional criticism from her coworkers, relatives, friends, and family members about her excessive and unhealthy drinking.

One Monday evening while watching TV, Angie and Lenny stumbled upon a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This TV program was a real surprise to Angie and Lenny because some of the alcohol facts that were discussed looked like they were directly associated with numerous drinking issues Lenny and Angie had been going through.

With thoughts of the television program still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been exhibiting could mean that they are alcohol dependent or maybe becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare professionals at the nearby alcohol treatment center to find out more about the severity of their drinking problems.

Paradoxically, although their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was clear that Lenny and Angie were at least addressing their drinking problems, they were enthusiastic about finding out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in finding out how they could appreciably reduce or eliminate the drinking-related problems that had started to emerge.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they arrived at a decision that the next morning, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol abuse rehab center located in the middle of town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to prevail over the alcohol-related difficulties that had materialized in their lives, they actually had the most refreshing night's sleep they could recollect in the last three weeks.
